Lavender Graduate Celebration

BTSU Multipurpose Room, Multipurpose Room

  The Lavender Graduate Celebration is our annual recognition ceremony honoring LGBTQIA+ students who are graduating seniors. The program provides a space for LGBTQIA+ identifying graduates to celebrate their time at BGSU and recognize members within their community who have made their experience memorable. We also honor the recipients of the LGBTQ+ Excellence Awards and celebrate the achievements of the past year.    Register at www.bgsu.edu/OMA2024grads to participate in one or more of these celebrations no later than April 5th, 2024. ***Students who anticipate graduating in any of the 2024 BGSU Commencements should participate in the April 2024 ceremonies (including August and December graduating students).

APIDA Heritage Month Kickoff

  Join The Office of Multicultural Affairs from 6 - 7:30 p.m. on April 2 in the Multipurpose Room as we celebrate Asian, Pacific Islander, Desi American (APIDA) Heritage at BGSU with keynote speaker Putsata Reang.   Putsata Reang is an author and a journalist whose writings have appeared in The New York Times, Politico, The Guardian, Ms, and The Seattle Times, among other publications. Born in Cambodia and raised in rural Oregon, Reang has lived and worked in more than a dozen countries. She is an alum of several prestigious fellowships and residencies, and teaches memoir writing at the University of Washington's School of Professional & Continuing Education.  Her latest book, Ma and Me, explores the long legacy of inherited trauma and the crushing weight of cultural and filial duty, in the context of her journey to come out to her family and claim her identity.  The book has won the Pacific Northwest Book Award and was a finalist for the Washington State Book Award, the Lambda Literary Award, and the Dayton Literary Peace Prize.   Appetizers will be served.

Sister 2 Sister and We Got Each Other Support Groups

Join the Office of Multicultural Affairs for the Sister 2 Sister and We Got Each Other support groups targeted at men and women of color. It is designed to provide a safe space to share experiences, gain support and a sense of belonging. We meet Wednesday, Jan.31, Tuesday, Feb. 13 and Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m. in the Multicultural Student Center in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union, room 427.
