2023 Women's History Month
Supreme Court Justice and feminist cultural icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg stated, “We are not experiencing the best of times, but there is reason to hope that we will see a better day. A great man once said that the true symbol of the United States is not the bald eagle. It is the pendulum. And when the pendulum swings too far in one direction, it will go back.”

For this year’s Women’s History Month programming at Bowling Green State University, we honor RBG’s legacy and the individuals who continue to fight for the freedom, equity and autonomy of all in the face of great adversity.

Pendulums are used in clocks and metronomes for keeping time, but they also play a significant role in seismometers for predicting earthquakes, as well as in spiritual guidance and divination practices. When the pendulum of our culture swings too far in a direction and makes us feel like we are repeating the mistakes of our past, it is important to remember the other definitions of the word; to shake up our culture and create positive change for a better future.
